You need a membership card to borrow material.
Please take books from the reading rooms and the textbook collection off the shelves yourself and record your loan with the help of the
self check-out machines on the ground floor.
Library material from the closed stacks can be ordered for collection from the pick-up shelves (on the ground floor,
next to the information centre) via the online catalogue.
Please note: Please mind the periods in which books are made available and the lending restrictions!
Loan Periods
| How long? | In general 28 calendar days. |
In general, the loan period is 28 calendar days; it can be renewed twice unless the previous loan period has expired or a hold has been placed on the material in question.
Please note: A renewal must be made before the previous loan period expires! If material is kept longer than the due date a default fine must be paid and the material must be returned. It is not possible to borrow the same material again on the same day!
The loan period for material provided via inter-library loan is usually 42 calendar days, starting from the day the material arrives at the ULB Düsseldorf. In exceptional cases, e.g. for periodicals and reference works, the loan periods can be limited to one or two weeks. Renewals are generally not possible for inter-library loans.
You can find a list of the material that is currently borrowed on your behalf with the respective due dates in your library account in the online catalogue.

- You will not be issued a receipt.
- Please make sure that loose inserts and the like cannot fall out.

If you want to use the book return boxes, you should remember the following:
